Key 10 - Humility
Humility according to society = “a modest or low view of one's own importance.”
Humility according to the Bible = “knowing and accepting who God made you to be; one’s place in life, society, etc. and knowing and accepting one’s own skills, abilities and talents.”
So who are we?
Before we are saved, we are rebels outside the Kingdom, and Satan is our Rebel Leader/Bandit King. We are ruled by lawlessness and sin.
We are citizens of His Kingdom when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. Do you REALLY accept this?
We are MORE than citizens; we have all the rights of a Citizen of the Kingdom of God, a Noble of the Kingdom of God, AND a PRINCE OR PRINCESS of the Kingdom of God.
And more than that, we are JOINT-HEIRS with Christ. That means we aren’t just Children of God, we are inheritors of the Throne of God. Maybe we should act like it.
Do you realize that Jesus made a way so that we are now HIS equals (from a status perspective). By becoming a man, God lowered His own status for our sakes, to do away with the original reason why Mankind sinned. He proved His ultimate love for us by throwing away the need to elevate ourselves. By having Jesus be our equal, God said, "I don't care about who is higher than who. YOU are more important to Me than status. So stop caring about who is greater than who."
As a child can influence their parents to get what they want, so we can influence God to get the things we are hoping for.
Why don’t we have power and authority over the world around us? The world rebels against us. Also, we haven’t proved ourselves responsible to receive power and authority.
How do we prove ourselves responsible? Truly accept you are an heir, and so are others (treat people as heirs). Also, act according to your authority level.
Inherited vs. Earned Power. Exercise inherited power to earn power. How? Supplication (focused prayer) in conjunction with secretly serving.
